May stands in stark contrast to previous months of 2012. For the most part, we have been in a holding pattern. Similar to having one foot on the gas pedal and one foot on the brake, it has been a year of fits and starts combined with an air of uncertainty and confusion.
We haven’t been able to get away from ourselves. Leaving not a stone unturned, the boulders of unconscious programming and long-term habits have surfaced from subconscious terrain. It is as though we had to back up and take care of problems in order to progress.
Clarity & Movement Through May
At this point, obstacles standing in the way of action have been addressed and resolved. Trusting the way is clear, May is a turnaround month. Finally . . . blessed clarity brings movement.
A Full Moon on May 5 sets the pace. Sun transits in earthy, practical, stable Taurus while the Moon abides in mystical, intuitive Scorpio waters. Illuminating the subtle interface between dimensions, this lunation marks Wesak Festival, an annual celebration of human kinship with all beings.
During Wesak, the ancient ones are known to come close, and whisper in humanity’s ear, offering guidance, solace, healing and encouragement. Each person has a unique place in Creator’s Grand Plan. As the Great Invocation reminds us, "Let purpose guide the little wills of men, the purpose which the Masters know and serve."
This Full Moon is a SuperMoon known to intensify electromagnetic fields around Earth. It also prepares a receptive field for humanity to receive rare and transcendent blessings of a Transit of Venus on June 5.
Venus’ Blessings June 5
From the standpoint of mythology, it is interesting to note Venus is the only planet named after a goddess. When Venus is prominent, highly charged and active, she bestows gentle kindness, creativity, harmony, love and beauty. Representing the Divine Feminine within each and every one of us, Venus is planetary ruler of the heart chakra.
To gain perspective on the rarity of this astronomical event, we consider that an alignment of Venus and Sun occurs approximately every 122 years. From our vantage point on Earth, we will see Venus physically move across the Sun’s face.
Known as a planetary "occlusion," this sequential alignment occurs in pairs. The first of this current pair happened on June 8, 2004. The last pairing occurred eight years apart in 1874 and 1882. It is amazing to note that even the orbit of Venus demonstrates the dance of love and her propensity for relationship.
The approaching Venus transit will have far reaching effects on many levels of individual as well as collective experience. First, let’s consider that Venus is transiting through the zodiac sign of Gemini.
Normally, Venus moves quickly, but as a result of Venus going retrograde on May 15, Venus will spend a lengthy time in Gemini skies, April 4 - August 7. This combination will amplify awareness around self worth, and May is the month to examine your values. What is worthy of your life attention? Are your receiving your true worth in the marketplace of life? What is important to you?
Gemini Solar Eclipse May 20
Additional emphasis on the zodiac teacher of Gemini is provided by a Solar Eclipse on May 20. At zero degrees Gemini, this eclipse sets the stage for dramatic developments over the course of May and summer months to come. To bring all this information back to basics, we have two major events activating in Gemini, the Venus transit over the Sun on June 5, and a Solar Eclipse on May 20.
What in the world does all this mean? How will the "little wills of men," and the spiritual heart of humanity respond to these significant astrological/astronomical events? First, let’s consider Gemini. This is the zodiac sign of communication. Hmmmm . . . that sounds easy, or does it?
Gemini is out and about, on the go, translating and networking within the human family. Gemini prefers to keep things light and fun, sociable and easy. Gemini excels in customer service, epitomizes the good neighbor, and typically knows the "right" thing to say. Gemini will say and do anything to keep intensity and depth far removed from an average conversation.
Truth Beckons
These planetary alignments will have us craving, begging for honesty. On one hand, there will be free flowing communication of love in beautiful and enriching ways. An amplified awareness of true feelings will surface.
This has tremendous benefit as well as potential pitfalls. There will be a lot of talk, plenty of movement, distractions and issues to be sorted through. Watch for signs of stress from over-scheduling and multi-tasking that lead to feeling scattered and not available to the moment.
On the personal level, there will be an overriding sense of necessity for honesty with self, even if it is not convenient to others. In those relationships where honesty has been obscured by convention and social niceties, be prepared for a clearing of the air.
The mind can no longer run away from the heart of true feeling. The head can no longer dismiss the heart. This is extraordinarily liberating and potentially discouraging. We may best be reminded to not take things personally, especially the words and actions of another.
Learning Through Conversation
May is an excellent month for gathering information through conversation, networking, technology, travel and a walk around the block. Near and far, the world is exposed, and humanity appears to be on the fast track of global connection.
Racial, cultural and gender lines of separation are dissolving each and every day. Education, formal and informal, is enhanced as people are ready for their step in learning. Watch for ideas, inspiration and opportunity to share your perspective with others. Developments this month can lead to workshops and travel on down the road.
May begins the summer travel and moving season. Despite high gas prices, people will be restless, in search of entertainment and diversion. Many people will experience the stresses of re-location, and face the necessity of travel related to moving, selling or buying a home.
A persistent urge to seek and discover fuels our summer months. It is like a game of hide and seek that keeps us moving in many directions at once.
Planetary trends for May flow into June. Venus does not go direct until June 27, so be patient and prepared as information and direction are revealed over the next several months. There are numerous implications for these trends.
All relationships stand to be impacted. From interpersonal relationship to politics and national diplomacy, there are huge revelations waiting to be discovered. In general, communication skills will come to the forefront to be tested and upgraded.
Gemini Lunar Eclipse June 4
A word about eclipses as they have far-reaching impact for months to come. First, eclipses always come in pairs. The Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20 is followed by a Lunar Eclipse on June 4. The Solar Eclipse is a New Moon planting seeds of evolutionary potential. The Lunar Eclipse is a Full Moon revealing intention, and bringing highly charged emotion to the surface of awareness.
Eclipses are a cosmic re-boot propelling life to the next level.
Second, the impact of eclipses is generally felt up to 4 weeks before the first eclipse. In this case, the eclipses are already affecting life on earth, and it will probably take another eight weeks for things to settle down.
You may reflect on recent weeks, and look for Gemini themes of communication, honesty, clearing the air, in addition to decisions around travel and education.
Calming, Grounding Influences
For most of May, we benefit from the simple, calm, stable and harmonious energy of Taurus. Sun is in Taurus until the eclipse on May 20. Mercury moves through Taurus skies on May 9 - 24. Benevolent, supportive Jupiter is in Taurus all month.
In addition to Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn, a clear majority of planets are in earth zodiac signs. Instilling a practical, common sense, sensual and grounded approach, the earth elemental brings us back to basic appreciation for our terrestrial home.
This is the month to embrace nature, and enjoy the grounding presence of Mother Earth in all her glory. Engage your senses in positive, life-enhancing and beautiful ways. Find suitable methods for minimizing stress, and prioritizing happiness and harmony. Walk barefoot in soft, green grass, inhaling fresh and fragrant spring.
