The Lotus Lodge Inn & Community Center

Enjoy a mountain retreat with us!

Lotus Lodge is a unique cohousing-like community of about 8 long-term adult residents on 1 acre of land with large old trees, organic gardens, wonderful big porch and great neighbors. We are in a semi-rural area yet just 12 minutes from downtown Asheville, NC.

Our large, 1915 vintage home has 4 apartments. Sometimes we rent a whole apartment to someone or a couple on a long-term basis. More often the individual rooms are rented to unrelated adults for $380-440/month plus a share of the electric. High speed internet wireless access is included throughout and for the downstairs rooms, cable for tv is included. We also rent one room on a short-term basis.

Short-term Vacation Rentals
Enjoy a lovely, private, sunny room with a queen bed (see photo) and high-speed wireless access and full access (day and night) to a kitchen that has all the utensils available at your convenience. Our current rates are $70/night, $62/night if stay 3+ nights, $390/week (all fees, beautiful linens etc. included, bring your own food).

If interested in visiting our community for a few days or long-term, please call: 828-667-4343.

Lotus Lodge's Personalized Retreats
Resident and psychologist Gayatri Erlandson, PhD, now hosts personalized retreats for individuals or couples. Other professionals are also available - especially to assist in healing work and creativity coaching. Call for information.
People doing spiritual retreats are also welcome.

Note: If you are relocating to the area, let us refer you to a really good real estate agent for assistance, even if you don't stay here. If you stay here, you are welcome to our library with lots of resources and good books. Plus we are happy to give you information about great local restaurants, events, places to hikes, etc.

Our Unique Cohousing-like Community

Our community is a collection of unique, interesting men and women who are artists, authors, gardeners, musicians, philosophers, psychologists, counselors or life coaches (or combination thereof).

We enjoy a nice balance between privacy and the opportunity for spontaneously shared meals, great discussions, hikes, celebrations, movie nights and much more. Conversations are often rich sharings of personal wisdom and growth, discussions of inspiring books, experiences or visions of possibility, and typically are punctuated with laughter.

What unites us is our vision.

Our Community Vision, Purpose & Practice
As a community, Lotus Lodge is a co-creative learning center and spiritual awakening sanctuary. More specifically, this is a nurturing, living-laboratory where people discover, co-create and practice what it means to live within a paradigm of Oneness; we're committed to living joyous, on-purpose and empowered lives.

In practical terms, this means that residents practice communicating consciously - utilizing intuitive, higher guidance and being aware of the energy behind our words. We endeavor to take ownership of our creative power and to develop skills along those lines. A uniting belief is that what we think and speak gets manifested.

Thus, everyone here endeavors to own and transform personal "buttons" rather than play victim on a drama triangle. We understand that co-dependent "rescuing" is just as unhealthy and disempowering for all as is the divisive gossip of victim stories. Instead, all are encouraged to know and negotiate for what they want, and to develop skills accordingly.

In other words, outward conflict is seen as an "obstitunity" (coined by Liz, a former long-term member) for clearing, connecting and expanding our skills and our awareness. Some of the classes taught by Gayatri Erlandson, PhD, (founding member) include: Conscious Communication, Awakening the StoryMaker and 'The Work' of Byron Katie.

Note: Call Gayatri for current workshop schecule.
Awakening the StoryMaker: A Workshop for Conscious Living is being offered on Saturday, May 29, 2010, 9 AM - 4:30 PM. Cost is $85. ($75 if paid by May 21).

In general at Lotus Lodge, creativity and positive use of one's imagination are highly valued (consistent with the teachings of Abraham-Hicks and Goddard Neville) as is consciously cocreating with Spirit. Some members consider “Co-Creative Science” as taught by Machaelle Wright of the Perelandra (Perelandra-ltd.com) foundational.

Everyone is free to choose what's best for him or her, however. In fact, freedom to choose is considered essential within the new paradigm. Rather than adhering to rules, roles or any external authority, it’s living from the inside out, from one’s inner wisdom and guidance. We get to discover who we really are and what we are capable of being.

Possibilities of Joining Our Community.
Individual rooms and/or apartments open up intermittently, so please contact us and ask, if inspired to join us. The announcement may be yet to be posted!

A private room is available June 1, 2010.
This is for an individual interested in being a long-term resident and community member.

The room is within an upstairs apartment shared by two very active, progressive and positive middle-aged women, so prefer a woman. It is 13' x 12.5,' sunny (has two tall windows), individual base-board heat, partly furnished (with bed, dresser, night stand & chair) and in front, with view of very old Oak tree.

Rent for this partly furnished room is just $370/month plus a share of the electric bill. It's in a sweet, sunny apartment - with its own kitchen, dining area and bathroom, and rent includes high speed internet wireless access.

A downstairs room is also available soon.
This is for an individual (or couple) interested in being a member of our community long-term.

The room is large, sunny and has 3 windows, a gas fireplace and both cable tv and highspeed internet wireless access included. Also, it is located on the main floor that has the library, a large kitchen and beautiful group room where workshops, meetings, music, movie nights, creativity or just sitting is welcome. Rent is $440/month plus 1/3 of the electric. Room is, or can be, furnished.

The long-term residents we prefer are people who strongly desire to live in community, who highly value our vision, who enjoy participating with others, who are open-hearted/minded, and are happy to help with some of the general maintenance - such as sweeping the porch or stairs, playing in the yard or garden, inspiring a great conversation or coordinating a potluck.

If interested in long-term rental, please email us information about you - your age, your interest in community, thoughts about our vision, interests in general, vocation, space needs (whole apt. or room, how much furniture you need or plan to bring) and your projected time frame. Email to cocreating at charter . net. Also please call Gayatri at 828-667-4343 to be sure she sees your email.

Note: We do not have work in trade for living space and request that people call ahead to make an appointment to visit, as everyone leads a rich and busy life. Also, no pets or smoking please.
